Steps to Upgrade from Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 to Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 2 on Client Access Server (CAS)

I’ve successfully upgraded my Exchange 2007 Server to Exchange 2007 Server Service Pack 2 in my environment and have put down the steps/screens for your reference. Hope it’s helpful.

Before you install, make sure:

1.       Windows Installer Version 4.5 is installed. You can download it from -

2.       Download the service pack from www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=4c4bd2a3-5e50-42b0-8bbb-2cc9afe3216a

3.       The setup files are available on a local drive/resource. This can be the hard drive or DVD connected directly to the server – reason being it’s a .NET application which ensures the files are from a trusted /secure resource.

4.       You’ve enough disk space available – this depends on the server role/s being installed

5.       All third-party applications integrated with Exchange are stopped – good idea to check from the vendor if there updates needed to be compatible with Exchange 2007 SP2.

6.       You’ve Microsoft .NET Framework installed. If you’re using Version 2.0. then you need to install the update 64 Bit or 32 bit (depending on the version of Windows Server 2003). Alternately, you can also install .NET Framework Ver 2.0 SP1 x64 or x86

7.       You’ve Microsoft Windows Powershell (for Exchange Management Shell) – KB Article # 926139

Follow the order while installing on your servers with different roles:

1.       Client Access Servers

a.       With internet connectivity

b.      Without internet connectivity

2.       Unified Messaging Servers

3.       Hub Transport Servers

4.       Edge Transport Servers

5.       Mailbox Servers

The process:

1. Run setup.exe – this starts the Exchange 2007 Setup Wizard

2. Under “Install”, choose “Install Microsoft Exchange Service Pack 2"

3. Exchange 2007 Setup initializes

4. You get to the “Introduction” screen, click “Next”
5. You get to the “License Agreement” screen
6. Choose “I accept the terms in the license agreement” and move on
7.
Setup program will now check you system to check if the pre-requisites have been met. If there’s anything amiss, you’ll get a detailed message

8. Once the check is complete, you’ll get progress status of every item that’s being updated. In my case, it took approximately 30 minutes for the setup to make the necessary changes and install.
9. Click “Finish” and voila!!! You’ve upgraded your Client Access Server to SP2

Verify the Server has been Upgraded:

1.In the Exchange Management Console, when you look at the server properties, you’ll get the version to be as Version 8.2 (Build 176.2)

2.    The same is also visible under the “Server Configuration” in the Exchange Management Console

    Hello

The installation failed on "Client Access Role" :
In french sorry "Une erreur est survenue lors de la tentative de mise à jour des propriétés de la métabase"

So I try in your language
"An error was occured during the try of updating the metabase properties"

Do you have an idea ?
But the version is OK : 8.2 Build 176.2...
