Question | ESM Search |
I have 30 Administrative Groups. Each Group has many server's and many servers has got many Mailbox Stores. Need to know if there is any way to search a particular Disabled Mailbox. I know the previous AD account it was associated with. But now the AD object does not have the location information of the Mailbox. I need to re connect it.
Cannot use MBCON, or Mailbox Recovery Center, cause I have to add Mailbox store, which is again big search.
Any idea?

Ismail,
The case where I am working on is a mailbox that is disabled and does not have any user associated with it. There is actually no connection between AD and this Mailbox. First I have to find the location of the mailbox among huge number of SG , MB'stores ..server's and AG's . Once I find that then I will create a new/old AD account and/to associate it with. So the Prime question is how to search a eg. mailbox named Bill Gates in the exchange org. Searching in Exchange System Manager is not possible I guess. It seems that I have to know the location of the mailbox ( bill gates ). I hope I am clear. Not sure if the above link will help.

How to Find a Disconnected Mailbox?

Hi Dominic,
Mailbox recovery center or Mbconn utility can help you with the same. Mailbox recovery center will actually show you the Orphaned mailbox and it's full mailbox path. The only thing is you will have to add each mailbox store in the Mailbox recovery center to find that particular Mailbox. I am not aware of any script or a utility that can read through all the mailbox stores in all servers in an enterprise and produce the list of Orphaned mailboxes with their full path. One other thing I am trying is to use the Exchange 2007 Management tools to accomplish this. Once I am done I will let you know the results whatever it be.
Thanks,
