Unable to deliver the message due to a recipient problem
Hello Team,
We have exchange 5.5 and exchange 2003 in our environment.. migration process is still going on so we can’t by pass exchange 5.5
Lets say
I have user A under Exchange 5.5 and User B under exchange 2k3.
One user sending a normal mail to user B, it will go through 5.5 only.
When any external user sending some rich format I guess it is not been received by 2k3 user however 5.5 user is able to receive it.
Second if userA send same mail to 2k3 user they are able to receive
On external user End we get NDR
Your message
To: exmerge
Subject: FW: Testrapport - 5 senaste artiklarna i varje agent
Sent: Tue, 10 Jul 2007 12:22:19 +0200
did not reach the following recipient(s):
exmerge on Tue, 10 Jul 2007 12:31:41 +0200
Unable to deliver the message due to a recipient problem
MSEXCH:MSExchangeIS:S1:SRVMMAHK002
Under message tracking:
from exchange 2003 server and if I select exchange 5.5 server
Then the out put is
Smtp inbound received
Smtp inbound transferred
Report generated internally (NDR)
Report delivered to Ismail.mohammed@unisys.com
Smtp queued outbound
Smtp report transferred out
so from this i am sure the message is not reaching to exchange 2003
it is getting stuck at 5.5 only
any idea what are the basic steps we can take
Increased diagnostic loggin on 5.5 no error message it is showing.
We have mcafe framework started on 5.5 other service are disabled

Hi,
Are you using ADC for your Migration if yes just compare the legacy DN name for the user object not reciving Internet mails both in AD and Exchange 5.5

Hey Ismial,
check for the MTA whether the messages are queed in MTA in 5.5 server. Secondly check in smtp address with x400 and x500 address being stamped, let me know the results.

Hi Pragi,
Now when send that rich text the message tracking shows the output only for exchange 5.5 and it is not showing any result as it has passed the message to exchange 2k3
See the output:
Smtp inbound received
Smtp inbound transferred
Report generated internally (NDR)
Report delivered to Ismail.mohammed@unisys.com
Smtp queued outbound
Smtp report transferred out
Now if i send a normal mail from external domain to 2k3 mailbox after smtp inbound transferred it is submitted to X.400.
I have checked it out both the attributes have value.
One question i have for you all people,
I noticed that EMSMTA.exe is not updated. The current version which we have on exchange 5.5 is 2654.50 but the latest version for EMSMTA.exe is 5.5.2658.6
See this below article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/839138 but this article is applicable for exchange 5.5 std edition, and i have ent. edition will that fine to install this hotfix and then test it out. Or you want to do some steps..
If it is still not clear please let me know i will repost the content in a better.
Regards,
Ismail Mohammed
