Microsoft Exchange offered two different management consoles to manage the server(s) first time in Exchange Server 2007. Messaging Record Management
Messaging Record Management (MRM) helps us to keep the messages that are need to comply with company policy, government regulation or legal needs and to remove those messages which are not required by the organization as per their policies. This is achieved by the mode of one folder which is being created under users mailbox called as "Managed Folder " which work as per the content setting applied on it. Messages under Messaging Record Management are processed as per the policy applied on it when it reaches to retention period either it can be moved to the deleted items folders, or to a managed custom folder, permanently deleted, marked as past retention limit or delete and allow recovery.

In my previous Blog http://exchangeserverinfo.com/2008/05/21/windows-server-2008-core-server.aspx
I mentioned about not so attractive features of Windows Server 2008 Core Server . Definitely over thick line those comments are realistic however I always had this in mind that there must be something behind this concept of core server. Microsoft will not brand something without any real cause.
The biggest advantage I see about Core Server is the scenarios in which we can install core server.
Here is one I have in my mind.
Scenario :
I am Admin in XYZ company and they have a branch office at a distant location. As company doesn't want to invest a lot on IT infrastructure for remote office and expects to me to manage the servers for that location. They want me ...<< MORE >>
The Outlook profile file (PRF file) allows you to create MAPI profiles for Outlook users. The PRF file is a text file with syntax that Outlook uses to generate a profile. Using a PRF file, you can create new profiles for users or modify existing profiles.
I had an assignment which required me to write a script that calls a PRF file. The PRF file creates a new Outlook profile for each of the users. The script will run in the logon services so it needs some basic logic to ensure that it is executed only once.
Here are a couple of samples that we have got ( they may need modification to suit your enviornment)

Most of the times if we have deleted any email from outlook ( Specifically hard deleted), we are forced to believe that it cannot be recovered without restoring from backup, which is not completely true.
We can recover any email deleted/ Archived from the Mailbox if it has not passed the deleted item retention period ( which is by default 7 days)
A few tips that I follow
1. Any Item deleted from the Mailbox either a soft delete or hard delete goes in the dumpster which can be recovered unless the online maintenance has not cleared those emails ( in default case if the mails were deleted on 31st Oct. they will not be actually gone from the database till 7th Nov)

This has been fairly common scenario & simple too, however i just thought to put up all the options that we have for this & some considerations about them. Here it goes

Build and Capture Operating System Image
In my last few articles, you have seen how to install system center configuration manager (SCCM), configuring a boundary, doing inventory, deploying software packages and finally deploying operating system from a reference computer.
In this article you will see how to build new windows xp computer and at the same time how to capture the image. To be frank with you this is the article which I suppose to release it little bit earlier because for understanding\learning purpose I started to build an OS image and faced lots of challenges, but later I realized that this would be bit advance for new guys to understand it at one instance so I started to release article just on deploying the operating system ...<< MORE >>

THE WAR IS ON!!!!
It’s been quite many years since Blackberry Technology has rule the world with its impeccable, secure and fast messaging technology on mobile devices. Now the industry has changed, with the introduction Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 it seems to me that monopoly of blackberry is over. I have seen several projects where Clients are moving from Blackberry to Windows Mobile services. The BIG question WHY? Simple cost and TCO. Below I am going to discuss the same where I will point out the comparison between both of them.
Cost
Blackberry:
To incorporate blackberry in a company where they have Microsoft Exchange Server one has to purchase following items

Reason for publishing this article there are very few article which talks about this XP Deployment and very important thing is that I faced lots of issue to get this deployment successful, so I thought to ...<< MORE >>

Performing Tracking and Logging Activities in the Organization
This section examines message tracking, protocol logging, and diagnostic logging. You use these features to monitor Exchange Server and to troubleshoot messaging problems.
Using Message Tracking
You use message tracking on Transport servers to monitor the flow of messages into the organization and within it. With message tracking enabled,
Exchange Server maintains daily log files, with a running history of all messages transferred within the organization. You use the logs to determine the status of a message, such as whether a message
has been sent, received, or is waiting in the queue to be delivered. Because Exchange Server handles postings to public folders in much the same way as e-mail messages, you can also use message
tracking to ...
Configuring Schedule+ Free Busy information between the forests – Exchange 2007 & 2003
Configuration of Schedule Free Busy in a cross-forest topology
Let me take you back to Exchange 2003 schedule+ free busy between two different forests. Whenever we are thinking of schedule+ free busy in exchange 2003, the first thing reflect in our mind is public folder. Reason, because schedule free busy & OAB are part of system folder and system folder is stored in public folder.
Basically when we are sending a meeting request in exchange 2003 topology , it will take atleast 45 minutes to update the Free busy information and if it is interorg scenario it will might take more then that. In a inteorg scenario, we need to configure the ...
